Job Objective:
The Director of the Performing Arts Management Program (PAM), in concert with the Dean of the School of Design and Production is responsible for the day-to-day guidance and the long term planning of the PAM program. He or she provides academic, managerial, and artistic leadership to the program faculty, students, and staff. School/Department Information: The School of Design & Production offers a unique and comprehensive program of instruction and practice in 12 different concentrations in theatrical design, technical production, project management, arts management and related theatre crafts. Students design and execute the sets, properties, costumes, lighting, sound, and wigs and makeup, as well as manage all production aspects for more than 20 shows a year.
The School of Design & Production works hand-in-hand with the Schools of Dance, Drama, Filmmaking and Music in mounting and producing operas, musicals, plays, ballets, contemporary dance performances and films. Students may enroll in the undergraduate (Bachelor of Fine Arts or Arts Diploma) or the graduate (Master of Fine Arts) programs. The instructional program equips graduates for positions in the profession at an employment rate that approaches 100 percent. The Performing Arts Management Program, now in its 8th year, averages 20 students in the 3-year MFA degree program.
Description of Responsibilities and Duties:
* Teach a full course load
* Oversee all aspects of the PAM Program operations and development
* Expand the school's reputation of distinction and significance nationally and internationally
* Maintain and develop curriculum for MFA in Arts Management
* Serve as advisor and mentor to approximately 20 students
* Oversee the 3rd year graduate student thesis process
* Recruit for future growth of the program
* Collaborate with all schools and departments within the university on issues of promotion, marketing and production
* Coordinate student production assignments and internships
* Oversee/supervise content for department website and marketing initiatives
* Serve on faculty governance and departmental committees as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
* Terminal Degree - either MFA or MBA, or equivalent professional experience.
* Significant professional experience in arts management.
* Exemplary track record as a supervisor and manager.
* Understanding of current trends and developments in performing arts.
* Facility with administrative and educational technology.
* Excellence in oral and written communications.
* History of collaborative leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience at the graduate level a plus
