Full-time Instructor in Theatre
The Department of Communication & Performing Arts in the School of the Arts & Humanities at Meredith College invites applications for a full-time position in Theatre Design & Technical Direction for the 2012-2013 Academic Year. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities include teaching a variety of courses, including Introduction to Theatre, Stagecraft, Costume & Make-up, Scenic Design & Painting, Lighting & Sound, and a production-related practicum. Candidate must design and build scenery and design either costumes or lights for 3-4 main stage shows per year, plus supervise undergraduate students in the shops. Full involvement in departmental and school activities is expected.
Qualifications include a terminal degree in Theatre, MFA preferred, evidence of design experience, and professional involvement in the field. Some prior teaching experience desired; graduate teaching assistantship acceptable.

Management prefers a major in arts administration, business administration, public administration or one of the arts disciplines, and eight years of progressively responsible experience in arts management at a high level, preferably the highest level, including five years in a supervisory capacity. Experience at the state and national level is desirable.
Salary: $60,964—$101,867

Flat Rock Playhouse, The State Theatre of North Carolina is seeking a full time Producer to manage a new touring venture for the Playhouse in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The Producer will report directly to the Producing Artistic Director and will be responsible for the successful execution of the theater's first major touring initiative. Position will require at least part-year relocation to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Job responsibilities include: managing production transfers from North Carolina to South Carolina, interfacing with series sponsor and local marketing/pr firm, representing FRP in the local and regional community, managing the touring budget, developing strategic partnerships with local businesses, managing local technical, box office, musician and house management staff, and collaborating with the Producing Artistic Director on programming choices.
The successful candidate will be a charismatic, outside-the-box theater professional with strong public speaking skills, and experience in managing theatrical related activities with budgets in excess of one million dollars. Salary is negotiable 43k-50k with enormous growth potential in subsequent years.

OnStage is a unique performance opportunity available to 3rd-12th grade students who participate in the School of Theatre Training. This event consists of four productions with a cast of approximately 40 students per production. Each production has its own stage management crew. Rehearsals occur over a five-week period with one weekend of performances at ImaginOn.

Flat Rock Playhouse, The State Theatre of North Carolina, is the largest professional producing theater in North Carolina. The theater has a sixty-year history of artistic achievement and is now seeking an Associate Artistic Director to take a leading role in furthering the organizations artistic goals.
Job responsibilities include: directing mainstage and second stage productions, managing the theater's recently launched New Works Initiative, season planning, oversight of visiting artists, New York and local casting, interfacing with the Apprentice Director and YouTheatre Artistic Director, managing the artistic associate and artistic interns, and supporting the artistic vision of the Producing Artistic Director.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished Director or Director/Choreographer of musicals and plays, with experience in new work development. He/she must possess a collaborative spirit, a commitment to developing work that emotionally engages an audience, and a desire to be a part of a wonderful community in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, 30 minutes from Asheville.

Season includes LOVE LETTERS and TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE. Both productions feature name talent. A high level of professionalism and commitment is required.

3. Assistant Stage Manager - Duties include assisting Stage Management with rehearsals, running backstage during performances, organizing and running all prop and scene shifts, along with other tasks as necessary. Non-union. Compensation negotiable.

4. Wardrobe Supervisor- Duties include shopping for costume pieces and accessories, alterations as needed, running show, assist with changes, cleaning and maintaining of costumes, and other duties as necessary. Knowledge of sewing machines and the ability to hand sew is a must. Non-union. Dates: Jan 17 to Jan 29, 2012. Compensation negotiable.
5. Marketing and Group Sales – Duties include managing outreach to local businesses and group sales. Making contact with concierges and hotels, church and synagogue groups, senior groups, men’s and women’s groups, business professionals groups, civic club groups. Compiling database w/contact info of all groups approached. Commission possible for the truly motivated seller. Compensation negotiable.
6. Flyering – Duties include distributing flyers, posters and postcards all over Moore County and environs, and maintaining a list of where they are placed. Mainly daytime. Compensation negotiable.
7. Box Office Manager – Duties include mastering our computer ticketing system and manning the physical box office the week of the show and before showtime, and generating reports after every performance. Mainly evening and weekend work, with some daytime hours required as well. Compensation negotiable.
8. House management/ushers/concessionaires – 2 positions to usher, scan tickets, sell concessions. Evening and weekend. Compensation negotiable.
9. PA/Go-fer – this intern position is for someone with beginning knowledge of theatrical practice who would like to spend some time in a professional theatrical environment. Managing and maintaining star “perks”, errands. Car and valid driver license required. Should read, write, and speak English well. Precision, speed, and patience necessary. Stipend negotiable.
10. Local graphic designer – this person will design some print ads, paper collaterals, and the show program, using company and show logos already designed by others. Variable hours. Compensation negotiable.
